Top tips to help find the right WordPress theme for you.

Are you searching  for a WordPress theme for your website or blog? Don’t know  where to start or perhaps you’re feeling overwhelmed by selection of themes available on the net.

My basic tips may help you choose the theme that’s right for you.

  • Looks
I wouldn’t recommend you base your entire decision on looks alone, but give your visitors something visually appealing to look and they’re more likely to hang around.
  • Quality
I use premium themes which can cost from a little as $30, I like premium themes because of the quality, my experience of free themes has not been good, this is from my early days of using WordPress, but don’t get me wrong I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with free themes, but you may like to read this  first before you do. :-)
  • Layout & Usability
I also tend to consider the layout of a theme  ie how many columns ? Can visitors easily navigate  around your site ? Before you can choose the right WordPress theme, it is important to understand your own goals and those of your readers. A good theme will accommodate both.  Think about it, are you going to use it a blog or website or both.
  • Is it to easy to customise m the WordPress theme?
Having a theme that’s easy to customise speaks for itself. If you’re familiar with html then the easier the better.
  • Custom Functions & Features
Widgets significantly enhance a WordPress website’s functionality and customisation options. This means you definitely require a theme that is “widget ready.” “Widget ready” means the theme is developed to instantly accomodate widgets. I wouldn’t buy a theme that isn’t widget ready.
  • Support
I always make sure that any theme that I buy offers some type of support. I prefer theme developers that come with forum support and the option to hire an experienced developer to help me if I need specialised help.     To date, all the assistance I’ve required I obtained from forum support. A well moderated forum, which is critical, is an excellent support feature. Just be sure the theme developer has senior moderators answering questions
