WordPress – How do I add a new theme?

If you’re using WordPress I’m sure at some point you will want to know how to install a Wordpress Theme for your website or blog.  There are several ways to install a theme and I’m going to guide you on how to install your theme from your dashboard which an easy way to do it.
When you install WordPress there are default themes already installed and they are boring as bread and butter.

Finding a Theme

Before you install your theme you will need to find your Wordpress theme that you like.
Once you know theme you want you can install your theme from your dashboard admin area.
 

Follow these steps

 Log on to your Dashboard admin area.

 On the left of your dashboard, Click appearance and click add new themes.    

 An install page comes up

Option 1  If you’re selecting your theme from the Free Theme Directory   Click Search or type in the name of your theme if you know it.

A page comes up with some themes or the specific theme you selected
Preview, if you like how it looks click install and activate your theme.

Option 2.  You can upload a theme which you have saved on your computer.

Click upload   – A page comes up Install a theme in .zip format

Browse and search for the theme you save don your computer, make sure that its in its  orginal zip format when you’re uplpoading your theme.

Click install now, then activate

Your new theme has been activated
